Acupuncture

Natalie received training and certification in medical Acupuncture through McMaster University. Acupuncture is a Traditional Chinese Medicine practice that views pain and disease as the result of imbalance and a disruption of Qi (energy).

Acupuncture points are chosen along channels/meridians to enhance blood flow and therefore restore the Qi. Treatment involves inserting small needles into precise points to stimulate muscle fibers. There is substantial research demonstrating that Acupuncture stimulates the production of endorphins, serotonin and acetylcholine within the central nervous system, enhancing analgesic effects (Chu, Andersson and Stux, as cited in Trinh 2021).

Acupuncture is a safe and effective method that promotes natural healing, reduces or relieves pain, improves function of affected areas of the body and restores the balance of Qi.

Some of the conditions Acupuncture can treat are: neck and lower back pain, shoulder/frozen shoulder pain, lateral epicondylitis (tennis elbow), carpal tunnel, TMJ pain, headache/migraine, hip and knee pain/osteoarthritis, ankle pain, Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, Reynaud’s disease.
